YEAR IN REVIEW
2007
During the year 2007, the Lowville Free Library added to its large print
book and talking book sections. We continue to add talking books on CD’s and movies on
DVD and have also added some Digital Audio books.
Our summer program continues in July and August with groups for all ages from
toddlers to teens. We have a weekly story hour on Tuesdays at 10:30 am. A library
sponsored book club meets the second Wednesday of the month. Author visits and book
signings were held at the library. Computer classes for beginners were offered and will
continue in 2008.
The Library Board of Trustees Annual Meeting is in February. In January new
Officers were approved. Randy Lalonde, President, Myrna Morrison, Vice-President,
Patricia Parker, Secretary and Sharon Sears, Treasurer. The budget for 2008 was approved
and a new member will be added to the Board to replace Janette Peek.
We are an automated library. Our library card can be used all libraries in the
North Country Library System. Patrons can put books on hold and renew books from their
home computer.
The total library holdings are 15,969. This includes books, talking books, videos
and
CD ROM’s. We have 54 magazine titles. There are 8 public access computers. Seven
are connected to the Internet and the other is for use by kids in the children’s room. A
television, video player and a DVD player are available for public previewing of videos.
Total circulation for the year was 28390 items. Computer use was 5716. We have over
2091 automated registered borrowers. Library visits for the year were 20438. We
borrowed 1487 books for our patrons and loaned 2935 to other libraries.

Library hours are Mon, Wed, Thurs and Fri. 12-5, Tues, 10-5 and Sat 10-
2. Evening hours are Tues, Wed, and Thurs, 6-8. These are year round hours.
The library board meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. The library staff
consists of Librarian-Director, Sally Brown, Assistant, Judy Adams, Children’s Librarian,
Dawn Myers and other staff Marsha Virkler, Louise Albertson and Nancy Blair and ROI
employee Dorothy Johnson. Volunteers are welcome. Friends of the Library are looking
for new members. Dues are $5.00 a year, individual, $2.00 seniors, $20.00 family and
$50.00 lifetime
